Bitdefender MDR is the managed detection and response service Bitdefender runs on its own GravityZone platform, staffed from SOCs in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Bitdefender MDR pricing is quote-only. Both tiers are sold as annual licenses, and neither has a published per-endpoint rate, minimum seat count, or multi-year term. The breach warranty is published in detail, and it is where MDR and MDR PLUS differ most.

The two tiers run one 24x7 SOC service with "Pre-Approved Actions" and root cause analysis. MDR PLUS adds intelligence services and a dedicated account manager, and it moves the warranty from a ransomware-only $100,000 schedule to a $1,000,000 schedule split into capped sub-limits. A year-one budget has to cover the add-ons and outside services both tiers leave out.

TL;DR:

  • Bitdefender publishes what each MDR tier contains and leaves every price to a quote, which makes reseller listings the only public price signal.
  • The tiers share the core SOC service and separate on threat intelligence, account management, and breach warranty coverage.
  • The warranty is a Cysurance product with claim deadlines, security prerequisites, and exclusions, and it is not an insurance contract.
  • Sensors, third-party log coverage, extended email security, and forensics are priced outside the MDR tiers.
  • The standard agreement locks in orders once signed and leaves renewal pricing to the order, which puts renewal protections on the buyer to negotiate.

How Bitdefender Packages MDR Today

Bitdefender sells MDR in two tiers, Bitdefender MDR and MDR PLUS, each as an annual license. The structure dates to April 2024, when Bitdefender replaced its older tiers: MDR Foundations became Bitdefender MDR, and MDR Premium and MDR Enterprise became MDR PLUS. Bitdefender stopped selling the older tiers on May 31, 2024. A direct or reseller quote that still names Foundations, Enterprise, or Premium refers to the retired lineup. MDR Foundations for MSP is a separate monthly service that MSPs deliver under their own terms.

Bitdefender MDR

The base tier includes the underlying platform, GravityZone Business Security Enterprise, along with 24x7 SOC coverage. Bitdefender promises that a security account manager will call the customer's emergency contact within 30 minutes of a declared incident. The tier also covers "Pre-Approved Actions," a component Bitdefender labels "Threat Hunting," expert recommendations, root cause and impact analysis with 72 hours of enhanced monitoring, the MDR portal with monthly reporting, and professional services onboarding. Under 1,000 endpoints, its warranty is the ransomware-only schedule covered below.

Bitdefender MDR PLUS

MDR PLUS keeps everything in the base tier and assigns a dedicated 24x7 "Security Account Manager" as the single point of contact, who also runs quarterly business reviews. It adds threat intelligence feeds and analysis from Bitdefender's "Cyber Intelligence Fusion Cell," dark web monitoring, security baselining and tailored threat modeling, and brand and IP protection. "High Priority Target Monitoring" watches high-value employees for leaked or stolen information. Reporting expands to intelligence hunts, dark web reports ("Quicklooks"), industry research ("Tippers"), and customer-requested "Requests for Information." Its warranty is the $1,000,000 schedule.

MXDR and MXDR Plus Bundles

Bitdefender has also sold two annual bundles since the November 2025 GravityZone release. MXDR is the base MDR license plus the Productivity, Identity, and Network XDR sensors, and MXDR Plus pairs those sensors with MDR PLUS. Neither bundle includes the Cloud sensor, which leaves AWS or Azure workload coverage as a separate license. In both bundles the breach warranty is a separate add-on, so a buyer comparing MDR PLUS with MXDR Plus should check which quote carries it.

What Bitdefender Publishes and What Stays Quote-Only

Beyond the tier contents above, Bitdefender publishes the warranty schedule, the SLA notification times in its standard agreement, and its data retention periods. Pricing comes only from a sales or reseller quote, and reseller list prices fill part of the gap:

What Bitdefender Publishes and What Stays Quote-Only
Term and band Listed price Seller
MDR PLUS 1 year, 1 to 499 units $179.00 per unit Genesis Technologies
MDR PLUS 1 year, 500 to 999 units $169.00 per unit Genesis Technologies
MDR PLUS 1 year, 1,000 to 1,999 units $161.50 per unit Genesis Technologies
MDR PLUS 1 year, 2,000 to 2,999 units $154.00 per unit Genesis Technologies
MDR PLUS 1 year, 3,000 to 4,999 units $145.90 per unit Genesis Technologies
MDR PLUS 1 year, 5,000+ units $138.50 per unit Genesis Technologies
GravityZone Business Security Enterprise (renewal) 1 year, 150 to 249 licenses $49.99 per license CDW

‍

At Genesis Technologies, MDR PLUS falls about 23% per unit from the smallest band to the largest, though the listing does not say whether a unit is an endpoint, a user, or a seat. The CDW platform renewal gives a rough sense of what the GravityZone platform costs on its own. No current public listing prices an MDR sensor. Treat these listings as starting points for negotiation, since Bitdefender's own quotes are not public.

How the Bitdefender MDR Breach Warranty Differs by Tier

Bitdefender advertises the warranty as included at no additional cost with either tier, but its warranty terms guarantee inclusion in the subscription price only for base MDR under 1,000 endpoints. Confirm on the quote whether the $1,000,000 schedule is priced in, since the schedule a buyer gets depends on tier and endpoint count:

How the Bitdefender MDR Breach Warranty Differs by Tier
MDR, under 1,000 endpoints MDR PLUS, or MDR at 1,000+ endpoints
Ransomware and business email compromise Ransomware only, up to $100,000 Up to $200,000 combined
Compliance or regulatory failure Not covered Up to $200,000
Cyber legal liability Not covered Up to $500,000
Business income loss Not covered Up to $100,000, $2,500 deductible per claim
Total $100,000 $1,000,000

‍

The $1,000,000 figure is the sum of those sub-limits. Every line on that schedule pays out only for losses that stem from a ransomware or BEC event. A ransomware event under MDR PLUS caps at $200,000, and cyber legal liability, the largest single line, pays only after the customer has exhausted other financial benefits. Claims under both schedules also require exhausting any other applicable certification warranty first.

The warranty agreement adds conditions your insurance and legal teams should read before treating the warranty as coverage:

  • It is a third-party service from Cysurance, and Bitdefender is not a party to it.
  • It "does not and shall not be deemed to provide a contract of insurance."
  • An event must be reported to Cysurance within 48 hours of discovery, or it is excluded.
  • Claims are denied if the customer missed patching windows (critical vulnerabilities within 7 days), lacked MFA or backups, or the incident occurred in a virtual desktop environment.
  • Each customer gets one valid event claim per year, and incidents that began before the warranty term are excluded.
  • Special terms apply in Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan.
  • The warranty runs monthly until canceled or until the MDR agreement ends, and the customer must re-accept it at each renewal.
  • MSPs and their customers are excluded, and customers still on the retired Foundations, Enterprise, or Premium tiers are not covered until they renew onto a current tier.

Sophos, for example, caps its payout per breached endpoint, while Bitdefender caps it per event type. Before relying on it, work out which line a likely incident falls under and what that line pays.

What Drives Year-One Spend Beyond the MDR Fee

The MDR fee covers the GravityZone platform, but several costs that shape a year-one budget sit outside the fee. Bitdefender MDR requires GravityZone's EDR and Advanced Threat Security features to be enabled, so a buyer on another endpoint agent today is pricing an agent migration as well as a service. Some MDR providers work with your existing EDR, and others, like Bitdefender, deliver the service on their own endpoint stack.

The migration consumes internal time that no vendor invoices. A Gartner Peer Insights reviewer in travel and hospitality wrote in July 2026 that the team "did have issues with planning and overall deployment" when moving from an existing EDR to Bitdefender's.

Beyond the agent, these line items can move the total:

  • XDR sensors are add-ons to both MDR tiers. GravityZone's XDR licensing requires a separate license for each sensor type: Productivity covers Office 365 and Google Workspace, Identity covers Active Directory, Azure AD, and Intune, and Cloud covers AWS and Azure, with Network licensed on its own.
  • Security Data Lake for MDR, released in October 2025, brings telemetry from selected third-party security tools into the MDR workflow and adds MDR detections and response for those logs. It is a separately priced add-on with no published rate.
  • Extended Email Security followed the Mesh Security acquisition, completed in July 2025. Bitdefender's standard agreement bills it by the number of mailboxes sold, with no public price listed.
  • Digital forensics and incident response sit outside both tiers. Bitdefender routes breach response to its partner CYPFER, and a CYPFER retainer is bought directly from CYPFER with no price on Bitdefender's site.
  • Promotional pricing reverts at renewal. An IT provider's review of GravityZone Small Business Security shows a 10-device subscription bought at 30% off renewing at list price, from $227.49 to $324.99, a 43% increase. The example covers an SMB platform package. Ask whether a first-year discount on an MDR quote behaves the same way.

The pattern is common across MDR pricing models: the service fee is the visible line, and coverage of identity, SaaS, and cloud often arrives as separately priced add-ons.

Bitdefender MDR Contract Terms to Negotiate Before Signing

Bitdefender's standard business agreement covers direct and reseller purchases, and most of its defaults favor the vendor. Orders are non-cancellable, fees paid are non-refundable, and purchased services cannot be decreased or exchanged. The customer can terminate only for an uncured material breach on 30 days' notice. Bitdefender can cut access immediately for a customer breach and reserves the right to discontinue services or features. A buyer has no termination for convenience unless the order adds one.

Nothing in it sets an auto-renewal notice period or caps price increases at renewal, because prices are agreed per order with the reseller. A buyer who wants either protection has to write it into the order, along with any right to reduce scope mid-term.

Response commitments in the contract are narrower than Bitdefender's marketing suggests. Bitdefender commits to notifying the customer within 30 minutes once an incident is assigned critical or high severity, with hourly updates, on a "commercially reasonable efforts" basis. Critical and high levels do not apply to non-production systems. Medium and low events carry no notification requirement; their recommendations go to the MDR portal.

"Pre-Approved Actions" are enabled by default, and Bitdefender accepts no liability for their consequences. Bitdefender also makes enabling all of them a prerequisite for the service and the warranty. Review the list with your IT team knowing that narrowing it may affect warranty eligibility.

Recourse is limited as well. Bitdefender's liability is capped at the fees paid for the deficient service in the preceding 12 months. Its service warranty promises professional work to industry standards. A problem must be reported within 30 days of discovering it, and the remedy is limited to re-performing the service or refunding the fees attributable to it. A usage audit can add cost too: if actual use exceeds licensed use by more than 5%, the customer reimburses the difference and Bitdefender's reasonable audit costs.

How Daylight Prices Against Bitdefender's Model

Bitdefender's pricing reflects an endpoint-first delivery model, in which the provider runs the service on its own agent and adds sensors for each new data source. An endpoint-first model can work well for a buyer already standardized on GravityZone. For a buyer running another vendor's EDR alongside identity, SaaS, and cloud tools, the price of an endpoint-first MDR includes the migration and the sensor lines. Compare providers on how much of the investigation work each one takes off the team.

Daylight is a MASS company, meaning it offers managed agentic security services for Security Operations. MDR is the entry point, and one architecture carries Daylight's threat hunting service and its Agentic Security Data Lake as well. Daylight's MDR service works across the security tools a customer already runs. A year-one plan with Daylight typically carries no agent migration.

Investigations start from two triggers: security alerts from those tools and Daylight's proprietary detection rules running on streaming log data. Daylight's bi-directional integrations can close resolved alerts at the source. Security experts with over 10 years of incident response and threat hunting experience work follow-the-sun, so there are no night shifts, and the Glass Box model is designed to show the evidence behind each verdict.

Daylight's MDR is quoted privately, like Bitdefender's, so normalize both quotes to one scope before comparing them. Daylight is not the right fit for every buyer. Organizations with less than half of their infrastructure in the cloud, buyers choosing primarily on price, regulated teams that need fully on-premises deployment, and mature SOCs looking for a co-managed model are usually better served elsewhere.

Building a Bitdefender MDR Quote You Can Compare

A Bitdefender MDR quote becomes comparable once every line the service depends on is priced in one document. Before signing, ask the reseller to confirm:

  • The per-unit price, the unit being counted, the band, and the term, with any first-year discount and its renewal price shown separately
  • Whether your existing GravityZone Business Security Enterprise licenses are credited against the MDR price
  • Which XDR sensors your environment needs, priced individually and as an MXDR bundle
  • Which warranty schedule applies at your endpoint count, and whether the quote includes it or sells it as an add-on
  • The cost of Security Data Lake for MDR if third-party tool telemetry needs SOC coverage
  • A CYPFER retainer quote, or a documented plan for forensics outside the contract
  • Renewal price protection and any termination or scope-reduction rights added to the order

With those lines in hand, the comparison with other providers shifts from rate per endpoint to investigation outcomes: what gets escalated to your team, which parts of the environment are covered end to end, and who owns the response.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bitdefender MDR Pricing

How Much Does Bitdefender MDR Cost?

Bitdefender does not publish MDR prices; the cost comes from a reseller quote. One public reseller listing, from Genesis Technologies, puts one-year MDR PLUS between $179.00 per unit at the smallest band and $138.50 per unit at 5,000 units and above, before negotiated discounts, sensors, and add-ons.

What Happens to the Warranty If You Add Endpoints Mid-Term?

The warranty covers the entire enlarged subscription when an existing customer adds MDR licenses before renewal and adds the warranty at that point. Growth that takes a base MDR deployment to 1,000 or more endpoints is also the point to ask whether the $1,000,000 schedule now applies.

Can MSPs Offer Bitdefender MDR With the Breach Warranty?

Not on MSP-delivered services. The warranty excludes the MDR Foundations for MSP, GravityZone SecurePlus, and GravityZone SecureExtra monthly services, though customers who buy the annual MDR or MDR PLUS license through a reseller still receive it. Bitdefender's MDR for MSP terms also set a minimum 12-month validity period, while MDR Foundations for MSP can run month to month.

How Long Does Bitdefender Keep MDR Data After the Contract Ends?

Bitdefender's MDR retention policy keeps GravityZone telemetry for 180 days and keeps portal records such as investigations, hunts, response actions, and reports for three years. After the contract ends, customers have a 30-day grace period to access the MDR portal and retrieve that data. After the grace period, the data can still be requested through a support ticket.
