How It All Began?

Eldad and I met nearly fifteen years ago during our service in an elite technological unit of the IDF. We trained side by side, spending countless days (and way too many nights) working on high-stakes, sensitive defense projects. Despite coming from different backgrounds, we clicked from day one. We shared values, ambition, and a love for solving hard problems under pressure. Even back then, between missions and deadlines, we’d talk about “someday” building something of our own. That dream stuck with us.

After our military service, we joined a few early-stage startups to gain real-world experience. Some of the most formative lessons came during our time at Torq, where we were part of the founding team. As we built a next-gen SOAR platform, we worked closely with hundreds of enterprises, ranging from small enterprises to massive global organizations, and got a front-row seat to how their in-house SOCs operated. While a few teams had it figured out, most were clearly struggling. We also observed how MSSPs attempted to fill the gap, and often failed. Their operations were overly manual, siloed, and relied on rigid, one-size-fits-all playbooks. Why? Because their analysts lacked context about the customer’s environment and business needs. Without that, they could only do basic triage before handing issues right back to the customer. We saw the same story over and over: frustrated security teams left to face complex threats alone.

Meanwhile, we also saw how AI is transforming the game. Quickly evolving, AI can now replace slow, reactive processes with intelligent, adaptive automation. It can analyze vast amounts of data in real time, and detect subtle threats. Agentic AI goes even further, learning, adapting, and collaborating with human analysts to provide context-aware, mission-specific responses.

One night in Paris, over a bottle of wine, we realized we were staring at a major opportunity. AI isn’t just improving slow processes - it can completely redefine what’s possible in cyber defense. Implemented correctly, it can enable faster investigations, reduce false positives, and enable proactive defense at scale. And with expert analysts behind it, we knew we had a chance to truly change the game.

From Idea to Reality

To build the kind of team we knew this mission required, a team that includes top-tier analysts, world-class engineers, and seasoned operators, we knew we needed the right partner. With over 27 years of experience leading security innovations and shaping industry strategy, Enrique brought unmatched insight and commitment. His shared vision and proactive engagement made Bain not only an investor, but a true strategic partner. We work closely with their team to refine our strategy, challenge assumptions, and accelerate execution. Their support has been instrumental in turning our idea into a reality.

We then recruited some of the best engineers we’ve ever worked with, developers who understood both the complexity of security and the importance of great user experience. We brought in expert analysts who had seen it all and deep experience in SOCs, incident response, and threat hunting. And we added innovative product and business leaders. With the right team, the right backing, and the right timing, Daylight came to life. Early customers who shared our vision put their trust in us and joined the platform from the start. They quickly saw the difference. Collaborating with Daylight dramatically accelerated threat mitigation, far beyond what they had experienced with traditional MDRs.
